Song of the Week: Vast Vision & RAM – Sandwriting

After a small leap of absence I return with a great production on Fraction Records, delivered by Vast Vision and RAM. The song is called Sandwriting, a beautiful name I must add. After waiting a long period of time for this release, it finally got out this week.

The pack contains the Original Mix, the Vast Vision Intro Mix, a Temple One Remix and a Alex Lamb Remix. The Temple One Remix is quite good, keeping the uplifting touch and adding some minor changes, not very unique, but not bad at all. The Alex Lamb Remix is quite a waste of time, because he changed it to a more progressive sound, that doesn’t impress. The intro mix is very good if you are a DJ and you are looking for a song to open your set.

The best version of this song is the Original Mix. It contains very melodic and calm strings. The warm sounds create an beautiful emotional breakdown. No wonder I felt in love with this song the first time that I heard it. The song is not that fast, but the goal is to create an emotional feeling here.

Vast Vision always delivers great uplifting and RAM after that style change is working torwards a great new direction with an uplifting perspective. We need to follow the new comers and the old dogs in the scene. This is an great example of new blood and veterans, working together for the sake of trance. Keep up the good work, guys!!

Song of the Week: Vast Vision – Luminosity

This week we had the pleasure of receiving a gift, for which we’ve waited quite some time now. Luminosity was the anthem of the Luminosity party held on the 12 of december in Amsterdam. Played in many radioshows, we we’re teased with this song for over one month. The release finally came this week on Liquid Recordings.

Being released along side an other Vast Vision tune, named Contact, Luminosity is the highlight of this week. Contact is a pretty decent uplifting song I might say.

A true deep and uplifting track was created by the guys from Vast Vision for this event and a lot of people we’re lucky to hear it live. I like the uplifting sounds and of course the piano. Very energic beats and pads we’re blended perfectly together. The breakdown is pretty slow, but once you reached the qlimax everything is reaching a higher speed. I love the combination of piano keys and uplifting.

Vast Vision did one hell of a job with this tune and no wonder it got selected to be the anthem of the Luminosity party. I hope we will see more beautiful uplifting tunes from this guys.

Song of the Week: Avenger – Music Box

This week I want to present to you as the “Song of the Week”, a great uplifting track that I’ve been waiting for a long time. It’s produced by Avenger and it’s called Music Box.

Released on NU-Depth Recordings in an EP format, Music Box comes beside 2 new tracks: Synth Reality and Existance. Both tracks are very good and deserve a listen. The uplifting passionate fans will be glad to hear the results of Avenger’s work.

Music Box is a very energic and melodic uplifting track. The build-up is formed by warm piano sounds and a soft bassline. Getting to the breakdown, the piano is taking over and some melodic pads make their way in with the strong kick. The song raises to the qlimax with the piano under way, where a powerfull bassline awaits to make the qlimax the most beautiful part of the song.

Avenger is one of the best uplifting trance producers at the moment with songs like: Love in Harmony, Phoebe and Rebirth; and with remixes for Corderoy and Robert Nickson. His unique style impressed me from the beggining and I hope he will maintain it for as long as he can.

Song of the Week: Suncatcher – Good Times

This week I’m gonna present the Song of the Week a bit earlier than usual, because of two things. The first is that on sunday I will write a special review and the second thing is that I have no doubt in my mind that this week, the most beautiful track that could be released  comes from our romanian fellow, Suncatcher. It’s called Good Times.

Released on Crystal Source Recordings this week, the pack contains an Original Mix and 3 remixes by: Thomas Coastline (Vocal & Dub) and Nery. I have to say that the Nery remix is quite good, but the original does the trick for this tune.

When I first heard this track (Thomas Coastline Vocal Mix) on Sean Tyas Tytanium Sessions, I liked it pretty much. It wasn’t exceptional, but it was worth playing. Then I heard the original mix and I trully feel in love. This is the kind of uplifting songs that make a difference in the scene. The intro is brilliant, it reminds me of The Fallen. The build-up is quite good as well, because you won’t get bored with it. The sounds used are very beautiful and quite unique. I never heard them before in other Suncatcher productions. The breakdown is very energic and melodic. I can feel the warmth of the sounds on my skin. This is a track that someday will become a great classic.

Here in Romania we are not used to have big trance producers, but those few producers like Suncatcher, Mr. Pit or Claudia Cazacu, really put us on the map. A songs like this one is a great example. I hope Suncatcher will continue to do great uplifting and someday his merits will be recognized at an international level.

Song of the Week: Midway – What If

After leaving the First State project after their last performance at Trance Energy 09, Ralphie B. continued with his solo projects. This week I will present to you, a new song on his alias Midway. The most beautiful tune, released on In Trance We Trust this week is called What If.

The pack contains the Original Mix for the What If song and a remix of an older Midway song called Amazon. The remix was done by Ferry Tayle and Stephan R in the Universal Language style.

This uplifting beauty called What If catched us like a charm. Everybody loves it and not because it was promoted on ASOT, being the tune of the week and after that the future favorite. The intro is pretty dark in my oppinion and the build-up as well. Reaching the first breakdown everything changes. You will hear warm sounds in the uplifting style and when you’ll reach the qlimax the things get a bit faster, the bassline gets a bit stronger, but the sounds and strings remain warm.

After hearing the fact that Ralphie left the First State project I was pretty damn upset a bit. I’ve managed to see their last performance at Trance Energy and I was quite impressed by their strong connection. I can only say now that Ralphie is making more progress by himself in the uplifting scene. Hope he will deliver more choons like this in the future.

Song of the Week: Trance Arts – Stratosphere

Trance Arts is an german artist starting to take the scene by it’s feet and gently smashing it to the ground. His productions are more and more catchy with every single release. What can I say about this one? I love it. Stratosphere is a very appreciated track and a suitable candidate for this week’s Song of the Week.

The song released on Unearthed Records comes with a pack of 3 remixes beside the original: Dan Stone Remix, Xgenic Remix and Arc Remix. I have to say the Dan Stone and the Xgenic remixes are the best from the pack.

The song is a pure uplifting track in the true Trance Arts way. Very energic from the build-up to the first breakdown when the magic starts happening. A very emotional breakdown which leads to a very aggressive qlimax. The strings used in the original, where totally messed with by the 2 remixers, creating something unique and special.

I hope we will here more great productions from this german producers in the months to come. With support from Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond, the path is looking clear for him. Now it’s up to him to deliver more high quality trance tunes.

Song of the Week: Dash Berlin – Waiting

Waiting!! Waiting for a good song to write about this week. The wait has finally ended. I am proud to announce that this week’s Song of the Week is the result of the collaboration between Dash Berlin and Emma Hewitt. As you anticipated the song is called “Waiting“.

I want to present the entire pack of this release. The Vocal Mix and the Extended Mix, where released with the Dash Berlin album. Now it’s time for the remixes. The pack comes with 4 remixes besides the Original Vocal Mix: 4AM Remix, First State Remix and Sean Tyas Remix (including a DUB Version).

I have to say that the original is pretty damn wicked. Emma’s voice is just beautiful and the Dash Berlin sound is all over this song. Beautiful strings surround this song, unique Dash Berlin strings I might say. It has an energic breakdown and qlimax and a great assist by Emma on the vocal part. Dash Berlin choosed well, when he started a collaboration with her.

The 4AM Remix isn’t the best remix in the pack, but for some people might work.

Now is time to bring the big guns out. First State did a good job remixing this beauty, but I tend to feel it sounds pretty much like and Cosmic Gate remix. He took care of the progressive remix. The best parts are that he kept the feeling and the emotion of the original sound and of course the theme, adding a bit of First State style to it.

The Sean Tyas remix, hmmm, this remix does it for me. When I first heard this on Tytanium Sessions I couldn’t believe my ears. I was so impressed. This is something else from Mr. Tyas. He made it totally uplifting in the true Tyas style, but he did something more to it. I like the slow part of the song when Emma sings the chorus. Now that’s inspiration, that part is purely genious. The breakdown is very energic as usual. He did a great remix. The dub wasn’t necessary, because Emma did a pretty fine job.

I’ve been listening to this song since the first release and now First State and Tyas gaved me reasons to listen to it more and more. A great track doesn’t need remixing, but if producers can rise up to the challenge and can create something equal or at a better quality, this is progression.
