Song Reviews: Sun Decade feat. Emma Hewitt – Lasting Light

This release week was opened by a major producer in the trance scene. From the collaboration of Ronski Speed, under the alias of Sun Decade, with the beautiful vocals of Emma Hewitt, the song “Lasting Light” was born, a beautiful progressive vocal trance, which will definetly hammer the dancefloors.

Released on Euphonic Records, the pack contains various remixes, from artists like: Jorn van Deynhoven and Duderstadt. You can buy the Original mix, the remixes and the radio edits. Every song has a dub mix, totally unnecesary I might add.

For me, the original mix does the trick once more. The Duderstadt remix doesn’t bring anything new or special to the old Duderstadt style and the van Deynhoven remix isn’t that bright as well. But the original mix is. Ronski managed to keep the same hammering style, with strong basslines and banging breakdowns. I think the breakdown should be more deeper. This will make the song more emotinal.

Emma Hewitt is one of my favorite vocalist at the moment. Writing her own lyrics is one of the most parts I appreciate about her. The voice of Emma brings the passion back into vocal trance, which is considered more commercial these days. Maybe someday this part of trance will return back to it’s roots.

“We’re the ones who chase the sun across the sky to feel the lasting light…
And we leave it all behind in sacrifice to feel the lasting light”
